Card values in blackjack work as follows: numbered cards (2 through 10) are worth their face value, while face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are each worth 10. The Ace is special – it can count as either 1 or 11, whichever benefits you more. A hand containing an Ace valued at 11 is called a 'Soft Hand'.
Each round begins with the dealer distributing two cards to you and two to themselves – one of the dealer's cards is face up and the other is face down. You then make your decisions based on your hand and the dealer's visible card.

Choose Hit when you want to receive another card from the dealer. You can Hit multiple times as long as your total doesn't exceed 21. The strategy: Hit when your hand value is low and the dealer's face-up card shows a high value.
Choose Stand when you are satisfied with your hand value and do not want any more cards. This passes the turn to the dealer. Stand is typically the right call when your hand is strong enough and the dealer is at risk of busting.
Double Down lets you double your original bet in exchange for receiving exactly one additional card. It's the best move when your hand totals 9, 10 or 11 and the dealer is showing a low card.
If your first two cards share the same value, you can Split – dividing them into two separate hands, each with a full bet. Each hand is then played independently. Splitting a pair of Aces or Eights is generally the best move.
Offered when the dealer's face-up card is an Ace. You may place an Insurance bet of up to half your original wager to protect yourself in case the dealer has a Blackjack Natural. Insurance pays 2:1 if the dealer does in fact have Blackjack.
A Blackjack Natural occurs when your first two cards are an Ace and a 10-value card (10, J, Q or K). It is the best possible hand in blackjack, and meriah4d pays 3:2 for a Blackjack Natural – higher than the standard 1:1 win payout.
